The
Chamber's Area Council Program
The Chamber began the Area Council Program in 1987.
The purpose of the Area Council Program was to expand the
programs of the Chamber to the outlying areas of the county,
including all the small municipalities and unincorporated
areas. This also allows these outlying areas to feel
that they are a part of the Chamber and can receive the same
benefits as those businesses that are located in the
immediate area of the City of Spartanburg. Each
Council has a Board of Directors, Program of Work, and meets
monthly throughout the year. Any business belonging to
the Chamber is automatically a member of the area council it
is located in, and there are no area council dues.
The seven areas of the county that encompass the Area
Council Program are as follows:
- The Greater Woodruff Area Council includes
all Chamber member businesses in School District 4.
- The Middle Tyger Area Council includes all
Chamber member businesses in School District 5.
- The Foothills Area Council includes all
Chamber member businesses in School District 1.
- The Boiling Springs Area Council includes all
Chamber member businesses in the Boiling Springs Middle
School attendance zone.
- The Northeast Area Council includes all
Chamber member businesses in the Chesnee Middle School
attendance zone.
- The East Spartanburg Area Council includes
all Chamber member businesses in the Cowpens Middle
School attendance zone.
- The Greater Pacolet Area Council includes all
Chamber member businesses in the Pacolet Middle School
attendance zone.
Each Council provides a common voice in promoting the
economic well being of the business, professional and
industrial community of the respective areas, provide a
voice to advance the agricultural, civic, industrial,
commercial, professional, and general welfare of the
Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, formulates and execute
group activities to improve business and civic conditions in
the area, urge owners and occupants of property in the area
to improve and maintain their premises, set up and
administer committees to carry out the activities of the
Council, and to coordinate all activities of the Council
within the overall program and policies of the Spartanburg
Area Chamber of Commerce.
Active membership in an Area Council consist of
individuals, persons representing businesses who are members
of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and those who
express an interest to be a member of the respective Council
