Business & Industry
Spartanburg
offers the international sophistication of high technology
and multinational business sweetened with civic pride,
balancing the needs of both community and commerce.
The county’s business climate is
highlighted by affordable buildings and developable sites, a
well-educated workforce and a comprehensive array of
business services.
Spartanburg’s downtown is booming
as more than $170 million has been invested there since
2001, creating nearly 1200 new jobs. Shiny new buildings dot
the ever-evolving landscape as the city serves as the
national headquarters for companies including Denny’s, QS/1,
Extended Stay America and Advance America.
Outside the city limits the future
is equally bright. Always ahead of the curve, Spartanburg,
in the 1950s, began aggressively recruiting European
businesses. That vision has paid off many times over, and
most recently with the BMW Manufacturing Corp. The German
automaker located here a decade ago, employs 4,700 and
produces the Z4 Roadster and the X5 sports activity vehicle.
In fact, Spartanburg County tops
the list of U.S. cities for European expansion, according to
a survey by Expansion Management magazine, published in
2003.
It looks like the world is
beginning to realize what we’re known all along – there’s no
better place to do business than in Spartanburg.
