SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is a group of 40 volunteers committed to helping entrepreneurs start a new business or build up an existing business. SCORE is part of a national network of volunteers who can help you build your dream. Our experienced mentors can help you: build a business plan, market your business, manage your finances, research your market, make informed decisions.
The City of Spartanburg Economic Development Department works to expand the City of Spartanburg's tax base and to provide quality job opportunities for its residents through new business development, retention/expansion initiatives, and facilitation of real estate development. The Economic Development Department serves as a liaison between the municipal government and the business and development community. The Economic Development Department also coordinates and administers the functions of the Spartanburg Development Corporation (SDC). The mission of the SDC is to promote and assist the growth of business concerns to increase employment opportunities and expand businesses for the citizens of the City of Spartanburg.
The Clemson Regional Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers personal guidance and assistance to small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Upstate. Through personal and confidential consultation, SBDC representatives provide one-on-one management and technical assistance to small business owners who wish to start, grow or maintain their businesses. The SBDC offers marketing analysis, business plan preparation, financial feasibility studies and other valuable resources to the entrepreneur at little to no cost.
The Economic Futures Group is the economic development organization for Spartanburg County and its municipalities, and is working to drive the international business movement in the Southeast.
  The Center at Spartanburg Community College - Realizing the unique opportunity to be a vital player in the economic growth of Spartanburg County, SCC created the Office of Economic Development, thus becoming an innovative leader in business and entrepreneurial development. A primary focus of this office is to promote collaboration between economic development organizations, government, business, and education to develop a business-friendly environment, which results in job growth in core and emerging industries. A primary resource for business development at SCC, The Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development is an invaluable tool to assist entrepreneurs and businesses launch, build, expand, and reorganize successful companies. The Center is in a foreign trade zone, located along the I-85 Corridor on Highway 290 in Duncan, South Carolina.
  The GreenHouse Business Incubator at USC Upstate - The GreenHouse, located on the third floor of the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics at The George, is a home where startups are nurtured in their fragile early stages in order for them to grow and thrive. The GreenHouse leadership works with startup companies to match resources that strengthen and launch knowledge-based businesses in the Spartanburg area. This is accomplished by building founders’ leadership capabilities and providing functional area support and directed peer interaction as they build their business.
