Blue Ridge Log Cabins to be Recognized by Congress

SPARTANBURG, SC (October 25, 2011) – Campobello, S.C.-based Blue Ridge Log Cabins will receive
recognition from the fl oor of the United States House of Representatives on Wednesday, the company
announced today.
The log home builder and its owner and CEO Milton A. (Chip) Smith Jr. will be recognized for its work in
promoting the cause of homeless women veterans. Blue Ridge Log Cabins was featured on a special two-hour
season premiere of the hit ABC program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition featuring First Lady Michelle
Obama in September. Blue Ridge Log Cabins built a new home for the Steps and Stages Jubilee House in
Fayetteville, NC, a shelter for homeless female veterans.
Blue Ridge Log Cabins will also receive a letter of commendation from South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on
Wednesday before being the guest of honor at a reception sponsored by the National Association of Home
Builders at Old Ebbitt Grill in downtown Washington. The reception is not open to the media.
