SACC President/CEO named to board of directors of Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives
Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Allen Smith, IOM, CCE, has been named to the board of directors of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).

Long an active member of ACCE, Smith earned the professional organization’s Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) certification in 2012. The CCE is the only national designation for Chamber of Commerce professionals. Smith also is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organization Management (IOM).
Smith has been President and CEO of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce since June 2014. During that time, he has spearheaded a number of successful Chamber initiatives and launched several new strategic endeavors, all while overseeing a 50 percent growth in the Chamber’s annual budget and 25 percent growth in Chamber membership. Smith led the effort to create a five-year comprehensive community and economic development strategy. Named OneSpartanburg, the $5.1 million plan officially launched in January 2017.
Smith previously served as President and CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce from 2010-2014. Under Smith’s leadership, the Greer Chamber was named the 2012 Carolinas Chamber of the Year. Smith also served as the Senior Vice President of the Greenville-Pitt County (NC) Chamber of Commerce.
A graduate of East Carolina University, Smith serves on the Converse College Board of Trustees, the Spartanburg Academic Movement’s Board of Directors, the Northside Redevelopment Group’s Board of Advisors, Pelham Medical Center’s Advisory Council, and the Chapman Cultural Center’s Board of Directors. He is a Furman University Riley Diversity Leadership Fellow.
