Diversity provides the potential for greater innovation and creativity. Inclusion is what enables organizations to realize the business benefits of this potential.
Racial inequities are a daily reality for millions of people across the United States, and recent acts of violence against Black people exacerbated by an inequitable global health pandemic have brought them to the forefront of our nation’s consciousness. At the Spartanburg Chamber, we find ourselves asking: What role do business leaders play in building a more just society?
The mission of the Chamber's Inclusion Council is to help diverse and underrepresented business populations grow and develop, and encourage their participation in all chamber activities. The purpose of the Inclusion Council is to ensure the Chamber serves and represents Spartanburg’s diverse business community.
The Pipeline Project
The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce a grant to fulfill the Pipeline Project, a community leadership diversity project that will promote broader and more diverse membership on area boards in order to create new champions for Spartanburg County that reflect its diversity. The project will identify rising stars, channel them through Spartanburg’s leadership development programs, and create a searchable database of trained community leaders.
This project is made possible by the Duke Energy Foundation

Economic Empowerment Fund
Being a member of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce means access to resources, relationships and ideas that help you succeed. To ensure more businesses are able to take advantage of these opportunities, the Chamber has created an Economic Empowerment Fund to help defray the cost of membership. This fund is supported by Chamber members’ 110 percent contributions. When Chamber members go above and beyond, they are ensuring a new business gains new access to all of our community’s opportunities.
